US National Data Center Data Request Server Help
Help on the US National Data Center Data Request Server
The National Data Center Data Request Server provides an interactive user
interface for requesting various data archived at the
US National Data Center (NDC).
The user fills out the form and clicks the Submit
Request button. The NDC system checks the input and informs the user
if there is an error in the input. When the input is correct, an email
message will be generated for the request.
There is a toggle on each page above the
Submit Request button which, if set, will cause the
system to display the message instead of submitting it. If the toggle is not
set, the message is sent to the NDC AutoDRM system. The AutoDRM system will
handle all of the data retrieval and responses to the user.
To return the fields on a form to all default values click on the
Reset Form button.
- The submit button will generate the email message and cause it to either
be displayed or submitted to the NDC AutoDRM server.
- The reset button will reset all the fields in the form to their default
values.
- Toggle buttons allow the user to select several options. When
a toggle button is dark, the option next to it is set. When a toggle button
is light, the option next to it is not set. Note that toggle buttons are
squares.
- Radio buttons allow the user to select one of several options. Selecting
one option will clear the option that is currently set. When a radio button
is dark, the option next to it is set. When a radio button is light, the
option next to it is not set. Note that radio buttons are diamonds.
- Pulldown menus also allow the user to select one of several options. When
you click on the button corresponding to a pulldown menu a menu will appear.
Clicking on the desired value in the menu will change the label on the button
for the pulldown menu.
- Text fields allow the user to enter a text string. If a particular format
is required for a field (i.e. date must be MM/DD/YY, time must be HH:MM:SS),
the format is noted in the field label.
- Text may be entered by clicking then typing in the field at the location
where the text should be inserted. The currently selected text field has a
solid cursor while other text fields have grayed-out cursors. The
backspace key will delete characters.
